KALKASKA COUNTY — The Bear Lake Christian Church is hosting free pancake breakfasts on the third Saturday of every month from 8:30 – 10 a.m.

The meal includes scrambled eggs, plain and blueberry pancakes, sausage with juice and coffee. All are welcome.

The church is located on the corner of M-72 West and East Bear Lake Road, about halfway between Grayling and Kalkaska. Members of the church belong to various surrounding communities.

Kurt J. Kolka grew up in the small community of Grayling, Mich., near the forested AuSable River. After majoring in English at college, he began a career in writing and newspapers spanning more than two decades. In his spare time he creates a Christian comic strip, The Cardinal, which has a 28-year history of publication.
