New App Connects Americans to Persecuted Christians

A new mobile app is now available that connects Americans to persecuted Christians in other parts of the world.

Christian persecution watchdog, Open Doors USA, developed an app that lets users to pray for believers who are suffering for their faith. There are more than 360 million Christians who face high levels of persecution and discrimination around the world. The Open Doors Prayer App aims to strengthen and support Christian communities through prayers and public awareness, reports Yahoo News!

“Prayer is the most powerful way to support our brothers and sisters worldwide who are suffering for the sake of the gospel,” said David Curry, Open Doors USA CEO. “Through this app, we are excited to provide a simple and accessible way to pray for urgent requests from our persecuted family living in the most dangerous countries in the world for Christians.”

Prayer requests in the app are submitted by Christian leaders, field staff and partners living in countries where it is difficult to be a Christian. Users can scroll through prayer requests and clicking the “Pray” button at the end of the request lets the persecuted Christian know that someone has thought about and prayed for them. In addition to praying for Christian minorities, the app allows users to share the prayer request in social media, through email or text.

Stories of Christians in Afghanistan, North Korea, and Nigeria are highlighted in the Open Doors Prayer App. Users can watch videos about how Christians live in countries where it is most difficult to practice Christianity. Prayers can also be personalized. There’s a feature where users can write their prayers for their persecuted brothers and sisters in Christ.

Also available in the prayer app is the World Watch List, an annual ranking of the 50 countries where Christians face the most persecution. The list provides information about these countries, stories and prayer requests for each country, and ways to support persecuted Christians.

The Open Doors Prayer App is available for free in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
